Mac or Linux?
On a Mac, iPhone HEIC photos get previews with nothing extra to install, and Filamama uses the Mac's hardware video encoder to make playable copies of videos. On Linux, HEIC previews need libheif's tools, and playable copies are made with ffmpeg's H.264 encoder.
On a Mac, the server runs while its user is logged in, so the Mac needs automatic login. On Linux, it runs at boot once lingering is on. See Keep it running.
