A phone can't find the server
Same Wi-Fi, the firewall, mDNS across subnets, and a server that's asleep.
The server stopped
After a logout, a restart or a power cut, on a Mac or on Linux.
HEIC photos show no picture
Install a HEIC decoder on Linux and restart; older libheif can't read some iOS 18 photos.
A drive the server can't read
Full Disk Access on macOS, permissions and fstab mounts on Linux.
Phones after a key change
Phones trust the server's key. Keep <data>/tls/ in your backups, or pair every phone again.
