Common issues

A phone can't find the server

Updated

  • Same Wi-Fi? The phone must be on the home network. Guest networks and client isolation block the phone from finding the server.
  • Is the server running? On a Mac, is it awake and logged in? See Keep it running.
  • The firewall. On a Mac, node must be allowed to accept incoming connections. On Linux, open TCP 5400 and UDP 5353. See Home network only.
  • Subnets and VLANs. mDNS, how phones find the server, doesn't cross them. Pair by QR code or typed address instead.
  • From a browser. Open https://<the machine's address>:5400 on the phone. If it doesn't load there, the problem is the network or the server, not Piktures.
